As part of the IERDJ research project entitled “Juridicités autochtones et droit(s) des générations futures”, co-directed by Leslie Cloud and Emilie Gaillard, a field mission was carried out in Colombia with the Kogis, an age-old people now living in the Sierra Nevada.
This mission was made possible by Eric Julien, head of the fieldwork in Colombia, member of the IERDJ research team and member of the Tchendukua Ici et Ailleurs association.
Two field trips were carried out:
– the first, a crossroads of views and wisdoms on the question of entering the Anthropocene era and protecting future generations. Cross dialogues with Mamus and Kogi communities based on traditional exchanges.
– the second, in the field, provides access to a thousand-year-old city that is off-limits to the public, where 4 sacred sites, with the creation of pagamientos, enable us to understand the relationship between indigenous peoples and the invisible world for the harmony of the site. This site is of historic importance for the 4 indigenous peoples currently represented in the Sierra Nevada.
This plunge into indigenous knowledge will culminate in the valorization of field research through two meetings organized at the UNC:
1. Emilie Gaillard will hold a conference between midday and 2 p.m. for students and colleagues at UNC, on the day and at a time to be confirmed.
2. The organization of a public viewing of the documentary Rendez-vous en Terre inconnue, Eric Julien will address the public, in collaboration with two archaeologists, Franck and Celine Leandri, who welcomed the Kogis to Corsican territory in 2023. They will explain their experience of cross-fertilization with the participation of Emilie Gaillard (on a Thursday, day and time to be confirmed, from 6 to 8 p.m., in preparation).
